Do you want maximum accuracy? Then you must correct the measured GNSS position. Due to ionospheric and tropospheric disturbances and clock differences, a GNSS measurement can easily deviate by 1.5 to 2.5 meters. In practice, the BBT Kinematics autopilot already achieves an accuracy of 1 to 1.5 meters simply by using two good antennas and averaging the measurements. This technique is called GNSS antenna blending.

Do you want even greater accuracy under all circumstances? Then HAS corrections are the solution. Until recently, reliable correction data was only offered by commercial parties at high costs (1,000–2,000 euros/year). However, the European Union has released this data for the benefit of autonomous vehicles. Galileo HAS (High Accuracy Service) is free to use, and BBT has been offering it to consumers for over a year.

HAS is currently in development phase 1: accuracy and convergence time are better than expected. Phase 2 is expected in 2026 and will ensure even better performance. Development has been slightly delayed by the European priority for OSNMA, a signal intended to combat spoofing and jamming, but even phase 1 of HAS is already delivering impressive results — and completely free of charge.

The major difference compared to a standard GPS antenna? Regular antennas in bait boats receive only one frequency (L1). Professional systems, such as those from BBT, can receive four frequencies per satellite. If you use four constellations (GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo), you can easily receive 70–80 satellites and up to 300 signals simultaneously. And this number will only grow in the coming years. BBT's high-accuracy module can even process more than 1,000 signals simultaneously.
